Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Axle subscription.
Managing your subscription
Your subscription is handled through Lemon Squeezy, our billing partner. You can manage everything from your Axle dashboard or Lemon Squeezy.
Upgrading your plan
Upgrade immediately
To upgrade to a higher plan:
- Go to Settings > Subscription or visit the Plans page
- Click Upgrade on your desired plan
- You'll be redirected to Lemon Squeezy to complete payment
- Your new plan is active immediately
What happens when you upgrade
- Immediate activation - Your new plan takes effect right away
- Prorated credit - If upgrading mid-month, Axle credits the unused portion of your current plan
- Features enabled - All new plan features are available immediately
- No downtime - Your payments continue uninterrupted
Example
If you upgrade from Pro ($15/month) to Pro+ ($29/month) on day 15 of a 30-day cycle:
- You receive a prorated credit for the remaining 15 days of Pro
- This credit is applied toward your Pro+ payment
- You're charged the difference immediately
- Your Pro+ features are active right away
Downgrading your plan
Downgrade to a lower tier
To downgrade:
- Go to Settings > Subscription or the Plans page
- Click Downgrade on the lower plan
- Confirm the change
- Your downgrade is scheduled for your next billing date
What happens when you downgrade
- Current plan continues - You keep your current plan and features until the billing period ends
- Effective next cycle - The downgrade takes effect on your next renewal date
- No refund - You don't receive a refund for the unused difference
- No interruption - Your payments and features continue normally
Example
If you downgrade from Pro+ ($29/month) on day 15 of your cycle:
- You keep Pro+ for the remaining 15 days
- On your renewal date, you switch to Pro at the lower price
- Your payment buttons and features continue uninterrupted
Subscription lifecycle
Your subscription goes through these stages:
Active
Your normal state — your plan is current and all features are available.
Transition: Next billing date arrives
Canceling (cancel_at_period_end)
You've requested to cancel but your current billing period is still active.
- You keep all features and payment capabilities
- No new charges will occur
- On your renewal date, your account will become "Revoked"
- You can still cancel anytime
To stop the cancellation, simply go to Settings and click "Resume Subscription"
Revoked
Your subscription period has ended and your plan is no longer active.
- Your account is paused
- Payment buttons show an error to customers
- You can still view your transaction history
- Your data is preserved
To reactivate, subscribe to any paid plan anytime
Paused
Your account is inactive and not currently accepting payments.
- This is the same as "Revoked" — your account will be paused
- All your settings and data are preserved
- Subscribe anytime to reactivate immediately
Canceling your subscription
Request cancellation
To cancel your subscription:
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- Scroll to Subscription Management
- Click Cancel Subscription
- Review the notice — this action is not immediate
- Confirm cancellation
What happens
- Cancellation scheduled - Your subscription is marked as "canceling"
- Current period continues - You keep your plan until your renewal date
- No new charges - You won't be charged again
- At renewal - Your account becomes paused
- Data preserved - All your transaction history remains
Example
If you cancel on March 15 and your renewal date is April 15:
- You can keep using Axle until April 15
- No charge on April 15
- On April 15, your account pauses
- All your data is still accessible
- You can reactivate anytime by subscribing
Stop a cancellation
If you change your mind before your renewal date:
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- Click Resume Subscription
- Your cancellation is immediately canceled
- You'll be charged normally on your renewal date
Reactivating a paused account
If your trial or subscription has ended and your account is paused:
- Go to Settings > Subscription or the Plans page
- Click Reactivate or Upgrade
- Choose your plan (or Pro if reactivating)
- Complete payment on Lemon Squeezy
- Your account is immediately active
There's no penalty for pausing — you can reactivate anytime.
Billing and invoices
Invoices
Each time you're charged, you receive an invoice via email:
- Sent to - Your account email address
- When - On your renewal date each month
- Contains - Charges, plan details, and download option
- Save them - Keep for your records and accounting
Payment methods
Your payment method is managed through Lemon Squeezy:
- Cards accepted - Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
- Update payment - Go to Lemon Squeezy to change your card
- Failed payments - Lemon Squeezy will retry after a failed charge
Refunds and proration
- No refunds - Monthly subscriptions cannot be refunded
- Downgrade credits - When downgrading, credit is applied to future bills
- Upgrade charges - When upgrading, the difference is charged immediately
No per-transaction fees
Axle does not charge additional fees per transaction. You only pay:
- Your monthly plan fee - Charged on your renewal date
- Stripe fees - 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (charged by Stripe, not Axle)
Everything else is included in your plan.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have multiple subscriptions?
No, one Axle account has one active subscription.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data is preserved for 6 months after cancellation. Reactivate anytime to regain access.
Can I pause without canceling?
Cancel your subscription — your account will pause at the end of the billing period. You can reactivate anytime.
How do I change my billing email?
Go to Settings to update your account email. Invoices will be sent to your new email.
What if a payment fails?
Lemon Squeezy will retry the charge. If it continues to fail, email [email protected] or update your payment method.
